The old method of running GPP as a service is no longer supported by windows operating systems over 2008.
We can suggest an service wrapper application called AlwaysUp which has been tested with GuardPoint Pro.
Note: once the service is setup and running you will only be able to access and administer GuardPoint Pro from a connected workstation.
You can download the application from here:
https://www.coretechnologies.com/products/AlwaysUp/srvany.html
Once downloaded, install the application and Run.
At the main screen click the cog to the far left to add a new service application
At the new service window fill in the following details:
Name: free text [give the service a memorable name like GPP]
Application: click the button to the right and browse to the GuardPoint Pro application folder and select the GuardPointPro.exe
Arguments: in order for the service to log on to GuardPoint Pro, you will need to supply the service with the GuardPoint Pro username and password.
[In the example above, we have used the default username and password /us=1000 /pw=2000. If you have changed the GuardPoint Pro username and password use your new credentials]
After filling in the above click Save.
Before starting the service we need to make changes to the GuardPointPro.ini file.
Open the GuardPoint Pro ini and search for the entry NoMessageBox=0
Change this entry to:
NoMessageBox=1
Save the GuardPointPro.ini
We can now start the service in Alwaysup by right clicking on the added service and selecting Start
The service should now start and log in to GuardPoint Pro.
Every time the PC is restarted GuardPoint Pro will run in the background.
